Im not a big american comic fan…thats my friend, shes really into all the comics and actually works at a comic store. But one thing i do know is that i was pissed when Captain America died last week…Who else is pissed by this?

i’m kinda on both sides. yea…it sucks he died but honestly they had to do it to show a point that the marvel universe is going to change and things needed to be done.

and on the plus side, the punisher will probably take over.

If I thought it was permanent, I for one would be in favor of it. However, I’m sure they’re just using it as a marketing gimmick and he’ll be back no more than 5 months after Castle takes up the mantle.
Also since they’re using the death to spin off another series on top of all the spin-offs and maxi-series coming out of Civil War as it is I’m a bit sick of that (and I’m probably late to the game for that, anyways); at least after they did House of M there was a little reprieve.

Yea, they always do bring the Superheros back somehow…...How many times has superman died by now anyways?? But hes still dead for now, and while i do understand why he was killled, it still makes me mad, that and the fact that his own gf shot him -.-, even if she was being controlled. The Punisher taking over though, he may not be as strong as Captain America but hes cooler. What superpowers does The Punished have? I know he got some even though he didnt start with any but i dont know what he does have <!—s:(—><!—s:(—>

The only power Punisher has is the power… to love. And kill. Mostly kill.

Superman has only died and come back to life once, though everyone seems to have a problem with him not being able to stay dead, so I guess once is enough. Captain America, on the other hand, I am almost certain isn’t dead, just another marketing ploy by Marvel. I have noticed contradictory information, however, because I found a page in a comic where Ms. Marvel tells Spider-Woman he isn’t dead, they faked it as part of a larger plan. However, the infamous Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joey Q said that he was truly dead and that page was wrong. Either way, I think he’s going to come back.

Also, the Punisher should not be Captain America, ever, IMO. He’s a psychopath, really. Just because he happens to kill criminals and not ordinary people and has a cool costume (I admit) makes him ‘badass’ and likeable. But is he really the one we want representing the country’s ideals? Remember, his first apperance was trying to kill Spider-Man because he ‘thought’ he committed a crime. Hmmm..

Actually, one of the few things I liked in the Civil War series was an idea they kept pushing that where Cap was the representation of the World War II America, Punisher was in essence the same for the Vietnam war. Same person, different eras; I think they’re going for the whole degradation-of-society metaphor angle with it. Either way, I’m losing interest. None of its gonna matter when the Hulk comes back. n_n

Yeah, I can see the Punisher being the personification of the Vietnam War, though that wasn’t exactly our country’s finest hour either, and I think that’s something most of us would like not to hold up and say “this is what our country is like!” Though didn’t in the latest reboot of the Punisher they had Frank fighting in the Gulf War instead, so that the timeline would match? I’m losing interest too, if I ever really had it.
