Just wondering how things were going, if things were going to be the same as last year etc ^^ I noticed the most recent thread about it is still from last year so I figured I’d ask here.

Also what is going on with the hotels? Are they really sold out? I ended up waiting to see if I even could GET a table before choseing the main hotel building to be closer to the con, but it seems to be a bit late ^^;

AC registration will be up in the next couple of days, along with the new site. The hotel is not sold out, they have not opened up the room block yet. Try calling them to see if you can book a room.

I’m very glad to have asked then ^.^ thank you so much for the fast reply!

It’s been quite a rough year so far so I’m trying to plan stuff to the minute >< It’s been making me a bit neurotic.

Any progress on AA registration?  I see general registration is available, but nothing on AA.

Looks like AA registration is up: <!—m—>http://connecticon.org/index.php?sec=ab ... eg_artists<!—m—>

However, when I click the “Click here to register now” link it just brings me to a regular registration page. Is this going to be fixed or how do I register for a table?

Yikes. Just wondering since the page said it was available. Kind of confusing.

I agree.  When you see the following:

It leads you to believe that Artist Alley IS open to registration.  I understand that things are taking time, but mixed signals are being sent out.

The website has been like that for sometime now. You pretty much just need to “stalk” the website and sooner or later they will open up the full artist alley registration. No not meaning to sound impatient but I hope it’s soon. I like to get this “paperwork” out of the way so I can concentrate on my art.

We hope it is up soon too. We just want to have it launch with no problems whatsoever. This has taken much longer than initially anticipated, but please bear with us. We will be definitly making an announcement here on the forums the moment it is up.

Okay, this is getting a bit ridiculous.  It’s the first of April, and Artist Alley registration is still not available.  I don’t like sounding like an impatient person, but we’re, what, just about four months out from the event now?  Four months and I haven’t been able to plan ANYTHING because I’m not officially registered into Artist Alley.  Can we PLEASE get an ETA on when registration will be available?  I’d also like the name of the person in charge of all of this because I’d like to speak frankly with him/her at the event.

Re: Artist’s Alley 2011?

Due to the complicated nature of how much customization this is going to offer (people are going to be able to select the exact spot they want in artist colony), it needs to be fully tested before I feel comfortable releasing it.

I do apologize for the wait, and if you would like to receive an email when artist’s colony launches, PM me with your email. I will be happy to email everyone.

We apologize for the delay in opening Artist’s Colony Registration, and appreciate your patience. As artists we are awaiting the opening of registration as much as you. We are anticipating the completion of the website at which point Artist’s Colony Registration will open.

Aren’t you going to tell me to change something, too?.
No, I just want my dress to be cool.
Do you not like the color?.
The color’s fine, just make it look cooler.
Do you not like the shape?.
The shape’s fine, just make the whole thing you know, cooler….
It needs to be about 20% cooler.

Re: Artist’s Alley 2011?

::::sigh::::::::  ok ... .I’m a REALLY patient person…. really! But like Roofpig said ...  This IS getting ridiculous! I recently, FINAL got word that I couldn’t get into AnimeNext Artist Alley which bugs the :::beep::: out of me and now ... or rather STILL…. no seeming progress with CTCon Artist Alley. I know, and whole heartedly understand, you’re trying to implement a new registration system this year BUT when is it going to be ready OR when are you going to put the new system on hold and just get registration going the old fashion way? The normal registration has been up for months, dealers I believe can sign up the year before (unless I’m mistaken I know that’s how it works at other cons) SO it seems like the artists are this forgotten people that are left in the dark until the last minute. Are we the last to get taken care of? Are we so low on the priority list? The level of frustration I have with signing up for artist alley’s in GENERAL keeps growing every year. Every con is different but one thing that remains the same but maybe in a different form is the artist seem to be treated like 3rd class citizens. Maybe I’m bias because I feel the artist alley of a convention is one corner of the foundation of a GOOD convention. Am I wrong? Are we artist diluting ourselves into thinking we are an ATTRACTION to a con?
I really don’t mean to “attack” the CTCon organizers but we are getting closer and closer to show time, I need to know which events I can commit to as soon as possible and here I am hanging around waiting .. and waiting and waiting. I really love CTCon, it’s my favorite convention of the year. It’s full of good programming, good people, and a good location. I just want to be signed up for a full table and then only have to worry about what pieces I should drive myself nuts trying to complete before show time!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get registration going!

again I apologize if this rant annoys the organizers but you have to always try to see things from both sides of the table.

Re: Artist’s Alley 2011?

I… kinda agree with Ulithig… It’s getting closer to the con itself and we’re still waiting for our registration to open up. I mean I’d rather just be able to register for a table right now instead of waiting for a new system to be fully ready and working.. I don’t really care where I sit at this point though. Don’t get me wrong, the new system sounds great and I do like the idea of getting to choose where I am in the room and at which table but we only have about 2 1/2 months until the con itself and we still can’t register yet.. it’s getting a bit stressful for us. I’d rather just register for a table now.. The new system can be put on hold for now and we can use it next year when it’s fully functional and you know for sure that it works right. ^^ I don’t mind using the old system, I just want to be able to register lol

And I had a question, actually it’s for a friend of mine who, if she does end up coming to CTCon, she would be sharing my table with me; she sells bags, like messenger bags and smaller sized bags with different anime characters drawn on them, and was wondering if she could bring like a coat hanger or something, to hang her bags on? Would that be allowed, or would it be a safety hazard or would there not be enough room for it?

Re: Artist’s Alley 2011?

Well again I apologise to the artist alley organisers and other staff. While it is getting close, I do respect their idea to make the artist alley reg more streamlined and give us choices.
I wrote my rant at 3am and was tired and depressed about other events not working out either.
The facts are (as far as I know)
CTCon WILL have a great Artist Alley like every year.
We’ll all have a FAIR chance of signing up for it.
And
I’ll be ready for the con with new pieces show off.

I’ve booked my hotel room, made other logistical plans and just standing by for the final piece, the registration.
