This is the same old banter that falls on deaf ears ... I remember back in the early 80’s ........... crap .. showing my age again .....  Where there was a big hoopla about D&D and these off the wall claims it was connected to devil worship, witch craft (which any well educated person will tell you have nothing to do with each other ) AND OH YEAH ....  brainwashing kids to be homicidal psychopaths ..

This guy just wants attention .... What he really needs is to be medicated! I just worry about the safety of the community because sooner or later this guy .. or one of his followers is going to cross the line and move from “freedom of speech” to assault.

As a Christian and a conservative I won’t say that there haven’t been a few comic stories I’ve been uncomfortable with, even out of the big two, but this? This is ridiculous. Why can’t people read both. Heck, I’ve seen comics BASED on the Bible or Biblical themes. (Somebody needs to show this guy Archangels: The Saga, as well as show me where to get the issues I’m missing.) I don’t think anybody is worshiping Superman like a deity. (Although I do remember a Superman story where some kid was asking Superman to find his lost dog, figuring he’d hear him with his super-hearing. He kind of looked like he was praying. Hmmmmm….nah!)

OMG.  OMG OMG OMG.  I can’t wait to go to Comic-Con now.  XD I’m gonna make a sign that says “I’m with stupid—>” and stand next to them in cosplay.

If they ever show up at connecticon we should organize a Phelps-a-thon! Bascially we would set up across from them and instead of just shouting back, we tell people to donate money to counter the WBC. Then we donate the money to a charity of some sort (I know we have a charity for the Webcomic Auction, or we could also choose another) under Fred Phelps and the WBC and mail them thank you letters for how much money they have raised for the cause they were trying to fight.

Well another “non-violent” means of dealing with this group is they are normally confined to a small area by police .... SO .. we just organize people to walk around their little pen with BIG flags and signs so no one can see them!! ... We should also ask the press the ignore them completely .. because that’s half the reason they would be there.

There are a few things I truely despise in this world (I may dislike a lot of things, but there are very few things that I truly hate).  This man and this cult are one of those things.

The fact that they spew hatred for EVERYTHING they don’t understand, or things that oppose what they believe sickens me.  The fact that they go to soldier’s funerals, the very people that protect their freedoms, and hold protest signs that say ‘Thank God for Dead Soldiers’....words cannot describe how much this angers me. 

And the fact that they have the nerve to speak on behalf of ‘God’ is appalling.  Who do they think they are?  How the hell do they know what God thinks?  They have protests and sites that say God Hates Fags, God Hates America, God Hates This, God Hates That.  What they are doing is promoting an evil God.  And honestly I think their entire cult is evil.

Now I knew they would eventually get to cosplaying because honestly, they find evil in everything.  What they need to do is mind their own damn business and get a freaking life.

I remembered something.

Way back in the 1980s I went to a Monkee’s Convention in Hartford (the Monkees were a television rock and roll group from the sixties, think of a cross between the Beatles and the Partridge Family).  Among the many people there was a woman who wore a badge saying “I despise the Monkees” (during the late sixties, when they were televised, some looked down upon the Monkees as a sell out to the establishment.  The Vietnam War was going on, there were protests all over the place, and so on).

It seemed strange.  If a person disliked the Monkees so much why show up there to begin with, let alone wearing something bound to cause controversy and arguments.  Such a person, I decided, was little more than a troublemaker hung up on the past.

I suspect the Phelps crowd suffers from the same problem.

I’m no psychologist BUT .... its people like those that want to have some level of power which they aren’t entitled to for ANY reason. They want to cause a fuss because once they have peoples attention they have a voice .. once you have a voice you have power.  There isn’t much you can do to these people because a BELIEF is a very powerful thing. You challenge their belief they dig in more ....  you try to ignore them, they yell louder .... and on and on it goes.

I honestly think the only reason these people are still around is because FoxNews, CNN, etc, continue to promote them. If they weren’t focused on as part of some sort of media blitzkrieg that they love doing to make every day life seem horrible, then they wouldn’t be able to get their ego boosted like they already do. I see these guys and I feel like whatever happened to everyone. I always wonder when did crap like this even start.

Like my mom said, they honestly have never read the bible like they said they do.

I’d love to go and mock every one of them. if they ever stood at the base of CTcon..oh man.

I’d like to do one of two things:

1.  Stand right beside one of them with a sign that says “I’m with stupid—->”  I wouldn’t say anything to them or cause any sort of a disturbance, just… stand.  XD

2.  Get a sign and write some of Jesus’s sayings on it and stand next to them with that.  I’m not even a Christian, but the teachings of Jesus are beautiful and I hate to see people like this subverting them to suit their own ends.  Something like “Turn the other cheek” or “the meek shall inherit the Earth” would be appropiate.

Another good quote would be “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone” ..............  BUT there is a problem with quoting the bible to this evil :::insert expletive::: ... He will just turn around and say “the devil can quote scripture too… don’t be fooled!” and likely many many other things to prove his belief.

This is true to a point! I live in NYC and I see crazy people like this guy all the time on the streets, in the subway .. oh boy in the subway! They don’t always REQUIRE media attention ...  all they need is ONE ... just ONE person to make the mistake and make eye contact and BOOM ... they will attach themselves to you like a blood sucking leech .....  (I don’t mean to offend the blood sucking leeches)

I think we’re safe at CTCon though .....  first ... this guy is on the West Coast? if I’m not mistake? AND Hartford isn’t a media MECCA ... He’s likely go after a convention like NYAF down in NYC
