Breaking my own rules here of starting this before December but I have two very good reasons for this 1) They started advertisting X-Mas stuff right after Halloween so why not get a jump on here too? 2) I just know Mike C. will beat me to the punch if I don’t stake my claim with my candy cane first…....

Went with the PC term for my title, as to save myself the effort of creating separate Chanukah, Festivus, Kwanzaa, etc. threads, so feel free to post those too if you can think of any. The same goes for my Holiday song thread that I’ll post in just a second.

Life is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it’s real, because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up/down and it has thrills/chills. And it’s fun, for a while. When you’ve been on the ride for a long time, you begin to question: ‘Is this real? Or is this just a ride?’ And other people come back to us and they say ‘Hey! Don’t worry, don’t be afraid - ever - because… this is just a ride.’

Re: Favorite Holiday Movies

well considering there are more Christmas movies then people REGISTERED on CTCon forum everyone could name one and we’d still miss some.. SO .. I’ll just name my favorite

“Santa vs. the Snowman”

A KICK-@$#$ movie that I happen to catch one evening years ago when I was stuck in my dorm room one night. Oddly enough though I’ve never seen it out on DVD, not many people saw it and I haven’t seen it on TV either.

I could only find this but I’m not sure since it looks like it came out in the last year or so…...

Both a Halloween and X-Mas movie…..

Re: Favorite Holiday Movies

I go with Santa Claus: The Movie and one particular animated version of A Christmas Carol that I haven’t seen in a long time, but thus far is the best of all of them. I’d really like to see that again, but how do you tell someone which one it is? There are so many versions, animated and live, that you really can’t tell them apart without seeing them.

Humm .. maybe this thread should have just been on version’s of A Christmas Carol movie .....
One of my preferred versions of this tale is the Muppets Christmas Carol. I liked the human cast and the muppets were cast in decent parts. I think it’s a good telling of the story for kids because it tones down the scary parts for them but nothing is taken out really.

Re: Favorite Holiday Movies

The best without a doubt is Nightmare before Christmas, and it doubles as a Halloween movie as well. 2 for 1 whats better than that.

Re: Favorite Holiday Movies

IIRC, Santa Claus The Movie featured Dudley Moore as an elf. I’m more of a traditionalist. Here’s my favorite movies for Christmas:

Miracle on 34th Street
A Christmas Story
Home Alone
The Santa Clause
Jingle All The Way
Scrooged
The Grinch

Here’s a movie that goes way back - March of the Wooden Soldiers with Laurel & Hardy. They used to show that every Thanksgiving on TV.

Re: Favorite Holiday Movies

I’m surprised, considering where we are, that nobody mentioned…

I’ll also go ahead and add
The Polar Express
The Year Without a Santa Clause
Prancer
Christmas With the Kranks
Joyeux Noel
to the ever-growing list.

...and of course

The many Doctor Who Christmas Specials. Although this year’s one is shaping up to be quite sad <!—s:(—>:(<!—s:(—>

The other day on the Hallmark Channel, they were showing a Christmas movie with Sammy Davis Jr. Can’t remember the name. I was channel surfing, but it looked interesting.
