Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon
In addition to the scheduled tournaments listed below, we will also be running sanctioned booster drafts all weekend long, when we have 8 players looking to draft.
A Prize Pool and Prize Allocation Chart will be available for review throughout the convention, for each event. Prize Support for most events* will consist of:
2 booster packs per player for sanctioned (8 or more players) booster drafts with a $15 or higher entry fee
5 booster packs per player for sanctioned (8 or more players) sealed deck events with a $30 or higher entry fee
36 booster packs per 8 players for sanctioned (8 or more players) constructed events with a $10 or higher entry fee
*Some events will provide out of print prize support that is worth significantly more than a booster pack, for example, the Revised Sealed Event has an entry fee of $125, each player will receive one Revised Starter Deck (60 cards) and two Revised Booster packs (15 cards each) with which to build a minimum 40-card deck, this event will be limited to 8 players and will have a prize pool of 16 Revised Booster Packs.

Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
Will the Vintage tournaments allow for proxies or no? Since most Vintage events I’ve seen allow for somewhere between 5 and 15 (mostly because not everyone can afford to purchase Power 9).
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
These are going to be Sanctioned Tournaments and proxies are not allowed in sanctioned events, even if you own a copy of the card, you are not allowed to use a proxy for it in a sanctioned event.
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
Well, as long as you have some fun Infinite Justice, that is all that really matters =)
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
Then you must really like the latest set - Alara Reborn, as every card in the set is a “gold” card =)
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
ah… yeah, you can’t win a draft tournament with rares… you can win a constructed tournament with a deck full of rares though =)
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
are the drafts 8-4’s?
or are they 5-3-2-2
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
and you can win while rare drafting it, i’ve seen it, its hilarious!
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
An 8 player draft would have a prize payout of: 8, 4, 2, 2
16 players would be: 13, 6, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1
24 would be: 19, 9, 6, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
Depends on the draft, we’re running every block from Tempest to Present, Revised Sealed Deck, some Extended, Vintage (15 proxies) and Legacy (5 proxies), and Standard Constructed as well.
We’ll also probably do M10 sealed.
We’re doing M10 draft tonight for Friday Night Magic at the Newington Office @ 7pm - 705 North Mountain Road Newington, CT 6111
Re: Magic: The Gathering Tournaments at ConnectiCon 2009
Well I ask because I frankly don’t care for the other sets, as I haven’t been to a single M10 events (or for that matter posess any M10 cards that wern’t in previous sets). So if a M10 deck is played then by all means count me in, otherwise I’m probably gonna skip it and just do M10 drafts
