Monty Python
Yeah, I know this is a really old show, but it’s still loveable. Who can’t help but to love John Cleese and his genius comedic partners? Just don’t say, “What’s Monty Python?” I might just cry. Just kidding.
What do you love about the show?
“And now, for something completely different…”

Aw yea! Love silly walks, the twits race, and the trout fight.
Films are all great too but Holy Grail/Brian were the best.

Life is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it’s real, because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up/down and it has thrills/chills. And it’s fun, for a while. When you’ve been on the ride for a long time, you begin to question: ‘Is this real? Or is this just a ride?’ And other people come back to us and they say ‘Hey! Don’t worry, don’t be afraid - ever - because… this is just a ride.’
Re: Monty Python
I have yet to see Life of Brian, but I agree that The Holy Grail was amazing. “It’s just a flesh wound.”
My favorite skits have to be the dead parrot, the lumberjack song, and Es Llama (if that’s how it’s said).
The prank on airplane passengers was pretty funny too. I don’t know what that is called, but it’s good.
Has anyone seen Spamalot on Broadway? How was it?

[quote author=“Cels”]Just makes me want to start belting out, “Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is good ” <!—s;D—>
<!—s;D—>
Life of Brian has got to be one of my favs though, but Meaning of Life/Holy Grail rocked too.
That reminds me…...
Isn’t it awfully nice to have a penis?
Isn’t it frightfully good to have a dong?
It’s swell to have a stiffy.
It’s divine to own a dick,
From the tiniest little tadger
To the world’s biggest prick.
So, three cheers for your Willy or John Thomas.
Hooray for your one-eyed trouser snake,
Your piece of pork, your wife’s best friend,
Your Percy, or your cock.
You can wrap it up in ribbons.
You can slip it in your sock,
But don’t take it out in public,
Or they will stick you in the dock,
And you won’t come back.
Definetely check out Brian, Muramasa. Haven’t seen Spamalot but want to.

Re: Monty Python
The closest I have gotten to Spamalot is renting the soundtrack from my local library. The lyrics alone are enough to leave you in stitches. The man who plays King Arthur is the same actor from Muppet Treasure Island (sorry that I can’t recall his name) who acts as the head pirate. I thought it was a nice touch, and he is an amazing baritone. <!—s:)—>

I truly love Every Sperm is Sacred and The Penis Song. Priceless! You also have to love the classic Always look on the Brightside of Life.

If you’ve seen “The Bright Side of Life” and “Every Sperm is Sacred” Then how have you not seen the movies they belong to? (Bright Side is the ending song to Life of Brian, while Sperm is from the Meaning of life)
If you’ve only seen clips of them, then please go rent the movies! (Heck, I’ll bring a copy with me to the Dec. Mad along with a laptop to play ‘em on) while the songs are brilliant, there are just some scenes you’ve got to see in the movies.

Interesting, I guess they’re releasing all the songs on there just in case they never get a chance to do a Brian/Meaning of Life show? I’d love to see those too and I wouldn’t see why not seeing as how the first one was such a success.
And the man your thinking of I believe is Tim Curry who used to scare the beezjus out of me as…...

I’ve only heard the songs on youtube because I’m cheap. Don’t worry, next time I go to Hollywood Video I will definately rent both movies.
And thanks, Grant, for reminding me that it was Tim Curry. The name seemed familiar and I can remember that he is the right guy. Who was the demon he portrayed though? That is certainly something you wouldn’t want to encounter in a dark allley.

Hahaha! Me too, I only have them on DVD because a friend left them here and forgot to pick them up.
No prob, he was actually playing the devil who went by the name of Darkness in Legend (1985)- <!—m—>http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089469/<!—m—> Interesting fact is that it inspired Shigeru Miyamato to create the The Legend of Zelda series which is why I think I used to have a love/hate relationship with it as a kid. lol

Re: Monty Python
As a weird side note, the day I actually posted this topic I had an interesting idea. I thought it would be cool if I could get a few cosplayers who watched Monty Python and we could reenact a popular scene during next years Masquerade.
A few scene ideas were the dead parrot skit, the lumberjack song, the mattress store skit, or the cheese shop skit. We could tailor it to any reimagination of the skit(anime’s my forte). Unfortunately, none of my friends watch Monty Python and I don’t know many people. Plus, I have limited transportation because I don’t have a driving permit yet.
Hopefully it can come to fruition by next years con. I just thought it could be a refreshing change for an act.
